EXPERIENCING KILIMANJARO

IMG_4660My sister got to experience the mother of all adventures early this year and like everyone of you reading this i thought “are you crazy”.. Okey help me out here, she is my sister, like i come right after her, she is the only one in our family that is that adventurous (except my mom that will tell you tales of her youth) but then again when she heard my sister was going she had a fit. Anyway it is very hard for us to admit she is our sister oohh because me and my brother have no bone what so ever for adventure, i mean if laying down on the beach somewhere is adventure thats my forte, thats  my story and i’m sticking to it.

Back to what i was initialy saying, as much as i was appalled on her behalf, and i suffered numerous calls from my ancestors just to know if she is okey i mean come on how would i know, she is on the mountain people! I was so happy for her, nervous as well but very excited after she returned that is, she couldnt move a muscle she lay down on my living room and i remmebr thinking whew you are bold and brave and i ams soo proud because i would have died, Period!. She wrote a piece i will share below and well i hope this from her angle will give you the excitement it did me and have it on your bucket list, in my oppinion she went on behalf of us all so lowkey i have experinced Kili through her, i would like to think  you’ll better than me (:

BETTY

At the peak of Africa

Earlier this year (feels like many months ago, and not two months ago!)I fated my life- all thirty years oft- and hiked up The Kilimanjaro mountain. It was a gift to myself for surviving, living for 30 years so far, and I thought to myself, ‘why not celebrate in an epic way!?’
First, I think of myself as adventurous in my family and among most of my friends. So, I was not surprised when most of the friends that I thought would join me on this celebratory quest bailed out. one at a time, (Friends, I have forgiven all 4 of you!)But also vengeance does come around – I had also bailed on other friends the precious year from doing this same hike, oops!
Two months prior to the hike, I had already consulted the company I was climbing with; my main contact was good at updates and answering my numerous questions, and boy, could he sense how nervous I was as the date drew close.( i would recommend him any day btw) I went from a couple of questions a month to several missed calls, SMS and whatsapp messages in a day. I really wanted to be sure to cover each and everything before disappearing for eight days on Kili (that’s how long we hiked up and down that big beautiful mountain) leisurely pace, they called it, looking back i couldnt agree more.

87c3001d-5939-4666-9e1a-aca3be16f5d4
Back to a couple of months before kili climb- I had started on a workout regime, mostly cardio and aerobics. Luckily we had a gym instructor at work that I fully took advantage of ( he was well aware) I was destined for 5,895 meters above sea level. I also did long walks on a weekly basis- 2-5kms, mostly Saturdays or Sundays when I’d just disappear for a couple of hours, walking up and down hills around the villages in karatu, with or without company, I’m a loner walker unlike my siblinsg who i bet if they ever worked up the nerve to walk would drag me along, I found out during this time; A walker who
likes to take pictures lots along the way and mumble to myself.
Monday 13 January was day one, I had had long phone conversations with my mom, grandma and brother, you would think i was going to war, all supporting me in this crazy ‘thing’ as they called it; my dad didn’t believe me at all; my sister, who’s ever supportive but never in it, was nervous for me as she came to see me off, and so she can call everyone in the family back to confirm I had actually gone, i know i put her on a hot seat because now everyone would blow her phone.

Met up with the rest of the group I was to climb with, Australians, great group, mostly friends and family that had travelled together right before this hike. After quickly warming up to each other (that’s what you do when you know you are in this together for the next week and a day!), the fun started. Off on Lemosho route!

Wait, did I mention a ton of items I had brought in my duffel and backpack (all legit for kili, mind you and did i also mention that i am a 5″4 barely)? Luckily there was a porter to do the heavy lifting, and I had to worry about my backpack which
contained the necessities. Out there these included water- whole 3 liters in a camelbak, sunscreen, camera-if i survived i needed proof for my future generation-, power-bank- I brought 2 of these with me because God forbid my mother misses me on the line enh she will call the Mountain authorities if there is such a thing), snacks, rain gear, lip balm- i was not about tpo be ashy out there in the mountains, sanitizer, wipes, water bottle and
more snacks.
Every trek and camp was different. I had a tent to myself. The views along the way were dazzling, ranging from deep forests, rocks, rivers, shrubs, ash and the snow at summit. The meals were fulfilling and the porters ever jolly. Some days were hard to trek ahead than others- my hardest were day 4 and 6; Specifically Barranco wall and summit night. Lord, did I need your grace and everything I had! The wall is exactly that, with crevasses and rocks that you climb over and up. It took me 2 hours to get to the top, it’s like climbing and hanging on a side of a cliff. Luckily on this day there was so much mist I could only hear the river and water fall from down below… no matter how I describe, you won’t get how massive and scary this bit is until you get there. Bottom line, I did not shit my pants- I fear heights.
Summit night was wearisome. Started off at 11:30 pm and got to Stella point at 6:20 am, at this point you have 170m to Uhuru peak. It’s the most excruciating minutes’ walk on wards- this is the point you hear voices in your head, “this far is enough. I can’t die here’. I went from cold, teeth chattering to hot, pretty bothered in all the layers I had on. I had to take numerous 2 minute stops along the way for water sips (before it froze), snacks and bush breaks. Not to mention how fast your digestion works up there…
well, let your imagination run wild.
From my experience, nobody told me how summit night would roll out or the descending. It took us a day and half to get to Mweka gate, to friends and pizza for late lunch. That ever downhill slope left my thighs sore for a whole week. From summit the movement is similar to skiing downhill, in ash then it changes to pebbles and rocky bits, and to slippery surfaces here and there. I did not know I could apply such breaks with my limbs mind you  i’m that driver, that holds the brakes so hard you would think ’m driving a tank! Suffice it to say I made it. Fair and square, and I have a certificate and lots of pictures to show for it. And I lived to tell about it.

Now friends (my family knows to stay out of it) ask if I would do it again… perhaps in another 30 years then let’s talk about it.

Cheers

IDEAL BOOK CLUB

IMG-0361 Everyone who’s reading this may know about my fascination with books, i have probably ranted about it or annoyed my friends while at it but i love a good book, i think it runs in the family my dad has always loved books more on the John Grisham end and then my sister UGHH she is a book guru that one i tell you so in comparison to them im somewhat the least interesting but then again my mom loves her religious books and well my brother i love him to death but let’s not even go there with him, with a mindset of books equal school and im not having it, i can’t blame him hey i love reading only for fun when it’s required f me its a hustle.

Most people also look at it from that perspective, but allow me to give you this new perspective, see the things you enjoy doing like let’s say shopping, making new recipes or drawing, makeup the same way you look at them with a sense of admiration is the same way books should be looked at, a form of art, heart stroking and well with all eagerness to know what the author tells.

Me and a friend of mine where talking just the other day (this is where i got the idea for this post, bless her) and she said she missed reading and was slacking, well i couldn’t help but think “me and you both girl” sometimes life gets busy and we put aside these things that really make and define us as us, I love a good fictional, romance or even a nice crime tell anyday, i used to read till dawn and no one understood me but i would give up sleep for a good book, i was fascinated, but it’s a shame that i have been reading “The proposal by Jasmine Guillory” who of late has been a good read as i have read a few of her books both softcopy and hardcopy.

Speaking of hardcopy and softcopy books, is it just me or does anyone else enjoy a good hard copy than the soft copies, i love the fact that i smell the papers read the words page by page turning as i really get in character and see it from a writer’s perspective, also gives me a reason to use this bedside lamp my sister got me and not to forget the excuse to use everything and anything as a bookmark, but hey soft copies are life savers as well being in a town where i am yet to finding a good book spot they have been saving me and bless bless the free sites as well ie “All Novel” which i would recommend, i have a friend that just started selling books from Nairobi her Instagram Handle is  @lee_books12 they are absolute phenomenal, she has different genres in there, in Daresalam my favourite is A Novel Idea at Slipway that is absolutely a go to.

IMG-0357

Sooo i got off track there for a bit anyway so me and my friend thought of starting our little book club, and as much as she can’t really stand sassy romance she is willing to give it a try hehe in the spirit of open mindedness and i plan to make it an ‘I told you’ moment, so i thought i would share with you a few tips on ideas to either start your book club or refresh the old one, keeping in mind that you all need to know one another and what your book interests are and keep that in mind as you go through with this, it’s very important, it may sound like a cliche but a book choice can as well be your identity.

Have A Theme For Each Month

Anyone agrees with me that themes are among the most fun and easy book club meeting ideas. There are so many ways you could go with this and even get really creative with it, the whole point is to enjoy while reading. For example you could get

  • A different genre every month, maybe your book club gravitates to one type of genre in which this would be a great way to spice things up but maybe it would be different genres.
  • Read your way around the world with a different country or a different “type” of setting (city, beach, country, space etc.)
  • Read a book set or written in from a certain decade, here you can pick a different book award list for each month (Pulitzer, Printz, Edgar, Newbery, etc.) Also could count the Goodreads Awards winners if you want.

IMG-0359

Read It & See It Book Club.

Here you and your members pick a few books or even come up with a list of books to movies, books that you have read and now have movies to them, you watch them and  see if you loved reading it or watching it. I have done this before, my favorite being the “Twilight series” by Stephen Meyer i enjoyed both reading and watching them also The fault in our stars by John Green that left me sappy and sad too but i quite enjoyed it. I have also had books read that i have enjoyed so much such as 50 shades Trilogy (aheem talk about intense) but i didn’t love the movies as much although i enjoyed them as well.

This experience can add  great element to book club and will be fun to do and get to watch together if you are in the same area, gives a chance to hang out together, eat, drink and watch the movie together. You don’t even have to do the most recent set of book to movies — just pick 12 books that are movies and have a book club movie night at someone’s house that’s if you are all close enough!

IMG-0343

Have a “Books &_____” Club.

Like many of you out there, i bet this is one that my book club will enjoy the most, hey dont even judge we need this, So pretty much here one may come up with an idea so as to make the book club a fun meeting and get some inspiration, this could be

  • Book & Wine club – See when i said this will appear even more interesting, you get to choose a different type of wine for every book club! This could be fun to also join a wine subscription, i guarantee you after a few sips, there will be laughter sharing and getting more in character.
  • IMG-0345
  • Book & Beer club — For the people that are quite into beers this could be your chance to hit two birds with one stone, have your read and a fun way to try new beers!
  • Book & Cookies club — Fro the oven junkies, i know a few people that would bake away their problems if it came to that, and boy do i envy them , so for yu like me you could do tryouts as well , it would be fun to have a different type of cookie every meeting or attempt to, as they bake you read away and eat as well.
  • Book & Craft club — Just like they have paint and sip (Which i would love to try, i am just going to put it out there Zakia and Betty, please lets soon. I can’t paint to save a life let alone sketch, now to think of doing it while siping you guys are about to witness art suicide), So with the same mental concept, maybe you talk about a book while you work on a craft or do something like knitting.
  • Book & Tea/Coffee club — There a few people that come in mind here, i have friends that are into tea so much they would love this, drink a new tea with your book or take coffee. There’s nothing more cozy feeling than books & a mug in hand, i’m not a tea person at all but i could always do milk hey!

IMG-0350

  • Book & Nail Do- This si for the ladies out there that are into this form of selflove, you can’t tell me that doesn’t scream ‘All of us ladies’ a good pedicure and manicure can put the doctor away, i for one know a new color on my nails and i feel ever refreshed and ready to conquer anything. So you could have someone do your nails and foot rubs as you share the book on the list, how cool is that!

IMG-0358

Tackle A Book List Together.

You as a bookclub can have  section that you want to cancel off, like 100 books to read before you die   or the penguin selection of 100 must read classic  books or even Good reads books one  that you want to tackle as a book club, to make this even more interesting you can come up with a table with the top books you would love to read, illustrated as below. There is even a must read 2020 section you might want to consider.

Book Club Bucket List

Follow along with a celebrity book club

Some people might find this quite interesting, lets say maybe you don’t want to pick the books you read for the year and want to follow along with a celebrity’s book club picks. Some people have recommended the Reese Witherspoon book club and hear she picks some great ones. Other options can be the Emma Watson Book Club, Emma Roberts Book club as well among many others.

I got to share ‘Six’ ideas to start with, we are all starting along with them together and i will definitely write on a follow up and the more i learn as i and my friend go through the book club, can’t wait to share many more ideas with everyone.

 Cheers

Dentist Horror

Hello,

Ever since I can remember, I was ever terrified of the dentist, to be honest, I was terrified of everything doctor related. But lucky me I had the best dentist ever, everyone would agree that Dr. Tekle was absolutely the best. But that didn’t mean that I still was not a bit scared he sure did bribe me quite well afterward so it was all worth it.

I remember having to get retainers at an older age, don’t question this my dad takes full responsibility for why I needed them to begin with but to be fair my fear of tooth removal brought me there(that’s a story for another day). So before my retainers I had to have a whole tooth and its stems extracted trust me I don’t want to go into details but it was not fun at all.

Fast forward years later, did i mention I broke my retainers and my mom being the African mom that she is told me one word “Usintanie” an that my dears sums up my retainer journey, don ask what I was doing with them off, to begin with but you guys have to understand that in high school no girl wants to be walking around looking geeky and yet I went to an all-girls school but still al the “what happened to your teeth? are you okay? can you eat? how do you eat?” questions can get on your nerves, but in my defense, I took them off since they were loose and someone dropped my bad but my mama was not having it sha so that was goodbye retainers for me.

Anyway where was i, enhee so years later I had a tooth that was giving me what all along I knew one had been filled-in years ago and the filling came out I never went back so I decided am chewing on one side forever because my dentist had retired so now this one side that homegirl can rely on had an aching tooth last last a had to go to the dentist, I will never forget that day ohh i thought I was going to die no one could convince me otherwise, you guys it was painfull like nothing I have ever gone through well until now, to make it worse they say the anesthesia is supposed to make it better, what better? How? Where? It was still painful I can honestly tell you up to date when I close my eyes and remember I can still hear the metals and my teeth colliding.

So my sister had a tooth extraction the other day and all along I felt horrible for her because I know what it’s like, she cursed her way through knowing her she might have intimidated everyone while at it. I told mom on how she swore on not going through labor if that was the pain involved, of course now am here thinking my mom is  a super Hero because to have us three and have her teeth removed a well and survive hehe I tell you I even told my sister no offense to me nor my baby brother because ha di been mom I would have just one baby and closed that chapter I can’t deal with kids and tooth pains as well I mean what next a heart attack God forbid.

I know we are supposed to be grateful for doctors and dentists and we are I mean I am but Ghaii if there is ever a way t make it all a bit better less painful and less traumatizing kindly consider us ohh..

***Cheers***

GOSSIP GIRL

I know! i know! Hey give me a break dont judge. I watched a part of this long long ago when it was the ‘IT” series, i even had the song theme as a text message tone haha yes i thought i was cool.

Only recently a came across the full season and was tenpted to try, anyone that knows me knows i have zero patience with series i cant wait forever till the next season let alone episode. The only series i tried following up on was vampire diaries back in university and for one my baby brother liked it so much he thought he was as cool as damon he even wore all black to church it drove my mum insane and because my love for super natural was just something. Till today the only series i have hands doenw watched and it was because i had the whole complete series was Grimm ohh this is hands down my favourite series

Back to Gossip girl so i decided why not, yes i was supposed to be writting my thesis concept paper and stressing about “the move” am yet to talk about and so procastination was key and this helped me.

Oh my i got into character as soon as i saw it i was serena and you where not telling me nothing (yes my imagination runs wild but allow a girl) but in many ways i saw myself in her, no a dont do never did and wont do crack but in ecery aspect thatw as me messup and try makeup or the go away and still come back to where i belong even the always forgiving trusting.. and from Go i knew that Dan was going to endup with serena, ( wierd when you cant tell who you will endup with or if you want to endup in the first place) Anyway in a nutshell i could relate

I am boomed that i didnt watch it back to back those days but then with the way my mind works i wouldnt be suprised if i took lead from a character.. I loved the ending and its sarcastic of me to say since i got rather upset okey too upset when dan dated blair she was too spoiled that one but she used that as a cover for emtions, dan also pissed me off doing all the donts just to make hismelf fit but hey did i also tell you i did guess he was gossip girl from GO! You might think am playing but sure i was like hes always the one that feels the odd one out i figured it might be him but in between the scenes i got carried away and never thought about it.

Ohh how could i stop writting without mentioning chuck anh he irked ke the way he talked earlier on haha but he was destinied for blair thats for sure, only thier psyco path ways would match ohh and Nate ohh boy let me just say (i am still tema Dan) but he was one specie that stayed hot all through chuck had a good after glow and even dan with his pre-shave and post shave manliness dont meet it.

Speaking of finding love over and over Lilly was it for me she was married and divorced and even had a chance with her longtime lost love and she still found love and comfort elsewhere i mean what are the chances in life that that happens?? Ohh and speaking of irk Georgina was such a **** but sexy too still didnt like her she irked me. And then lets talk manly handsome man i have never found an older man attractive in such a way but Dans dad my oh my my no wonder he was out there bringin offspring like Dan to the world. Okey forget i said that outloud..

This was the best handsdown teenage series ever.. I know most of you had seen it then i would suggest a a re-watch for old times sake.. I am thinking a rewatch of one tree hill next..

xoxo..

Experiencing Kilwa🏝

Hello Guys..

So fun fact, growing up i had a height and depth phobia among others, i literally had periods every time i got on a flight it was crazy but i adjusted, well i went to university in an island so my depth phobia seemed crazy when i was surrounded by water on every side . I remember one time me and my girls went skinny dipping on an impulse till today i laugh on such memories.

Now however the beach has become a happy place for me no lie, i find so much peace just seated by the beach, i wont lie am not suddenly thee best swimmer or something but i sure do try.

I love islands even more, my experience at university was rather vegue however iiss it even more now, me and friends have had several trips to mbudya and all and it was lovlie too but cyprus remains my favourite.

My namesake took a trip to kilwa this past weekend, and i must admit apart from being all shades of green with envy and very jelous yes im allowed to be i was stuck in Nairobi working on my paper all weekend and it was raining hard and she had all the sun and the bliss tell me you wouldnt have been😫 Anyway but still i got to experience a little of Kilwa through her and although i look forward to visitng some day i thoughy id share this bit.

This trip had a couple of experiences from a boat ride and yoga on the boat and enjoying the beach

visiting ruins of historical sites where they stored slaves and guns back in the days

A YOGA session at the ruins, this was her exact words only translated to english hihi ” they had slow swahili music the kind they play in the coast, the zanzibar kind, with candles lit facing the sunset on the rooftop of an old mosque with an audience of the birds singing and appearence of the moon shinning, it was very relaxing and to die for

fishing “kolekole” and eating of every sea food you could think of fresh

a trip to mangrove beach and mwangaza , outdoor activities such as snorkeling and diving,

Now more than ever, i am looking forward to visiting Kilwa, i had so many questions and so much was shared and its in my bucket list.. Thanks to Carol_Ciero for letting me experience Kilwa through her.

~Xoxo~~~,

The PodokaFestivals

This past weekend was one of the best weekends ever, started out quit dreadful since i had to travel back to university in Nairobi but it turned out to be quite a nice one..

One of my girl friends was planning for months on being a part of The Podoka Festival, anyone that knows her knows how shes passionate about makeup its been her go to, her voice and just everything, so she won the earlier contest and that won her an opportunity to showcase her creativeness at the podoka festivals and that means a VIP ticket for yours truely,ME!

On arrival i must tell you i had to work so hard not to let my jaw drop lest i embarass her or something, every ones work was hh amazing, there are talented creatives in Africa guys no lie and mind you these where new and upcoming artists but the work was life..

I got to see behind the curtains or backstage moments and all the work they out into it even more i loved that everyone though insipired by different things it all cane down to just creativity and it was overwhelmingly amazing.. Im going yo describe the few works i got shots for below each with their artist and insoiration, i promise by the time your done reading this you will me awed to the core…

This was from an Artist named Joy that goes by podoabyjoy_mus on Instagram. It was amazingly put through, she was inspired by the whole Climate change theme, this illustrated a happy earth happy people kindnof vibe, and she killed it..

this was also her second showcase, still on the matter of climate change inspiration, here she went for a deforestation look, showing its impact to the earth thats the bald cap and its brunches that are lifeless showing how earth is after deforestation takes place, the presenter even threw inn “if dry spell was a person” this is wha it would look like and am sure we all agree

These looks where from a makeup artist and creative Sandra she goes by makeupbysandra_ke. She says “my creative work was inspired by the model herself, her personality is what got me inspired, she wasnt just a display but rather the look itself” for all that have watched moana then you know what she meant “Grafiti”

This was also a look by sandra, and like the previous one her model inspired the whole creativity and the whole outfit wa shand stitched aint that amazing and she just fit the whole genie look i was screaming yessss she is a thick model so theres hope for me hihihihi

This look was from an upcoming artist called Marybeth her instageam handle is Marybeth_13. Shes new and has a shy personalty however her work is beautiful, she was inspired by how creatives go through depresion at times, this look is to state that as water goes throught rocks and hills in life people especially creatives had hardles too but they should stay flowing like water in the end you will start flowering…

This was a look done by my friend, shes leaned more on the makeup side of things and not painf but she decided to givenit a go amd she won an outstanding chance, sometimes your passion will take you places you have never thought of. Lilian says what inspired this look was “How she loves Kenya but she misses home” this statement is so true, She painted the model in both flags and put on a maasai attire and with Sauti soul playing in the back” live and die in Africa” what could better describe the moment.

There where tones more guys, too bad i could not display them all but they where all amazing works driven by purpose and passion and it was overwhelmingly great, the atmosphere was amazing the venue too, the judges where also extra ordinarily awesome and so was everyone that attended or showcassed..

I am looking forward to attending more of such evernts that live you feeling inspired, and sharing them with you all..

~~XOXO~~

Arts and its Beauty

I have always been one to stare at either a picture, a photograph, a statue, a curving, a woven material anything actually in art in a visual representation or even audio since i love music as wel and thats art, it has always been fascinating to me.

I walked into the malls in nairobi a number of times and would see artists or gallery owners casually showcasing their work i think it is beautiful. For one anyone can walk into a mall in search of something but sometimes no one would casually walk into a gallery because of the idea we have that maybe its too expensive or so but even looking at it would brighten your day trust me on that and no not all art is rediculously expensive you need to see and ask..

i walked into Galeria mall on a window shopping spree, yes i know dont comment but whats a student to do on a lazy saturdag afternoon .. and there i saw these and i like every other african assumed if i went to close they would think i wanted a peace i was only looking from a side and admiring then moved along

but a little later something moved me abit close and as daring as i was in the mood to be i did go and look at the hanged work up close, they where beautiful canvas quite breathtaking, simple yet very precies. The guy was nice and we got talking and he even let me take these pictures. You guys if ever in Nairobi, should visit Karen Village they have a beautiful artist gallery with different talents showcased.

cheers!

The Giraffe Experience

Today started like any other day honestly… I have been sleeping late writting and working on my paper, and thebi hnded inn my first paper and i was like let me breath ohh as i wait, so then a started waking up earlier than planned, i would initially plan to wakeup at 11 yes 11 ohh and then at 8 make a trip to the loo and the Baaam i hit my toe everyone knows how it is so painful and thats the end of my sleep however not the end of me ranting about it apparently since i still am.

Anyways so today started like that,i had to go to the hospital take out my stiches ( yes thats a story for another day). It was preety quick, quicker than i had expected since last time i went it took ages to finish.. Anyway so afterwards i went to the mall for a stroll and then me and my friend decided to go to the Giraffe center

Okey so this has been our biggest procastination yet, litterally we would plan and re-plan and never visit it, which is very odd since first we live close by second its in our bucket list(so to speak) i know what your thinking, yes there Giraffes back home but this is an upclose experience and well “when in Nairobi do what Nairobians Do” so why not..

Its safe to say it was a very pleasant experience all the same. There where a number of people and so the feeding packets they give you at the entrance is what gurantees your luck with them, I was preety nervous i mean i had questions like do the bite? what if they chew my arm? what if they pulled me over?? what if i fell and many more hedious ones.. But it was an Experience and hey i even met SOPHIA the Giraffe !

“The Giraffe Centre is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), a Kenyan non-profit organisation. Our main purpose is to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country’s wildlife and environment, as well as give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species, the giraffe.”

checkout their website https://www.giraffecentre.org/

and when in Nairobi do visit..

Cheers

HAIR LOVING AND LIVING

Dear Readers…

okey its been a minute.. if im being honest with myself its been more than a minute. I could explain a whole lot but it all comes down to a whole lot of PROCASTINATING and well life hapening..

But id like to get back to writting more often because ita genuinly something i enjoy doing whole heartedly..

Sooo what better way to come back that with the HAIIIIRRRR! Yes i know what your all thinking, Not hair again? What about hair now? relax

As most of you would know i have always been a great lover of my hair, well not always at first i used to get so agitated with it, i had such a huge chunk of hair and i didnt know what to do with it, at some point in university i didnt like the fact that i had bushy hair, once a friend heloed me perm my hair the next day it was as if nothing was done to it (Rolls Eyes) I envied people that straightened theirs and it looked all relaxed mine would keep poping..

Anyway in the long run i learned to love mines and to see what a blessing it was to have big hair, i could experiment on it with different syles and color it as well and not feel the loss or the breaking, i always fed my hair and then some

So upto date i try and do that, i do alot of DIYs i wont lie i visit the salon maybe once every four months, i limit heat in my hair so that uncludes alot of aur drying as well and i retouch it thrice a year because the growth is unbearable sometimes, i do alot of hair foods like Ovacado’s, Eggs, Honey, Lemon, Warm oil ohh an recently my sister told me to try out “BAMIA” i know what your thinkinking i thought so too YUCKKK! But it worked magic as well all you do is boil it and then let it cool a little before you apply it in your hair and scalp and just massage it..

But like anyone else i also get tired of all the DIYs and soo i also use living conditioners for my hair alot, i have tried varieries thats till my girls SNASNATURALS( who by the way if your in daresalam or anywhere realy since they deliver, has the best Organic products for your hair from different brands iu should check her out, search that on IG as well and thank me later, Thanks sandy😉) So where was i , ohh yes she introduces me to my current go to products from MIKALLA..

These products for me have been very handy and what u have constantly used when am not doing any natural conditioners or shampoos. I started out with using the living conditioner which i loved so much, its the right texture and scent as well and it feels good in my hair. I loved how i could always do twists afterwards and get the best outcomes afterwards. Their shampoo is also a genuinly good choice. I also love their styling cream and the gell, these have been my package if and when i plan to wear my hair which is almost every time

I always say moisted hair is everything, i used to have a hard time combing my hair after twists but now with my moistuirizer that has a combination of water, lemon and some living conditioner, using a water bottle i spray and then comb it like nothing was ever an obstacle..

So on days wether i plan on rocking a bang, with the help of bending rollers or bantu knots or just twists , id moisturise it then go ahead and put on my living conditioner from Mikalla and then apply the jell if i want a stiffer reaction and then sleep on them, as i take out the rollers or twists i apply the styling cream it helps hold on my bagns longer. Some times when i want them to last over a week i use Lota body.

Even when i want to wear my hair straight or in a bun i still follow the same procedure.. Moistirize, apply the living conditoner and then go ahead and comb it though with a comb and the a brush just incase i want it laid back smooth .

So if someone asked me the secret behind my hair of recent, the bagns mostly which im a greaf fan of, i would say say Water, Living Conditioner, Gel and Styling cream from Mikalla and well Bending Rollers Annnnd VOILAAA!

I hope you guys enjoy this like i did making it and i hope it helps you as well in your hair loving journey. Dont forget to checkout SNASNaturals on Instagram for organic hair products as well. Im going to attach a picture of the products on their page as well as their tag…
